Co-curricular Activities

For kids, it’s a lot of fun mixed with learning. The building houses a large Playing Arena for young ones, a Sand Pit and a Clay Pit to nurture creativity in a natural environment.

The School is providing floor and opportunities to the students in the specific field of co-curricular activities. Specially designed cocurricular calendar nurture and cater the students as per their interests and need. The students of the school are divided in different Houses. House wise Co-curricular activities are being performed through out the session. Please refer Academic Almanac for detailed information. It is the utmost belief of the School that every child is blessed with some distinct and distinguished qualities.. School has full time and part time eminent artists to teach students drawing, painting, clay moulding, craft, music, dance and dramatics. It may be one of the reasons that school has a distinct name and fame in to the field of cultural activities in the whole region. School is organizing mega Science Exhibition; Art Exhibition, Quiz and other inter region and inter school competitions through out the session. Students of the school bringing great laurels in different National level talent search examination every year. It focuses on your ability to come out with creative ideas that work. Numerous skills are dispersed through these activities.

Inter-House Competitions
Essay writing, debates, extempore, speech , singing , dance , mono acting are some of the events conducted during competitions and are a regular feature in the school. These events not only provide a break from the classroom learning but also stimulate the child’s creative talents.

Gold and Silver Star Awards
The scheme is introduced to enhance the self-esteem of the students. To identify and acknowledge talents and good qualities in students, a format is circulated amongst all teachers who observe the students on daily basis and identify their strengths and weak points. The complied assessment sheets are handed to the principal and a select group of students are awarded Gold and Silver Stars. Stars of the Week To boost the confidence levels and communication skills of the students, a boy and a girl are chosen on a weekly basis, designated ‘Stars of the Week’. They are asked to address the assembly for the next five days continuously on various aspects such as self and family, life in the dormitories or school, what they would like to be and how they plan to go about it. The initial phase is marked by nervousness but by the
end of the week they are able to ward off their inhibitions and speak with confidence.

A Word a Day
This programme has made the assembly interesting while at the same time helped students in their vocabulary development. A word is put on the information board and students are asked to explain its meaning the following morning besides using the word to construct sentences. This has made them refer to dictionaries to pick new words, learn its usage besides developing
self-confidence to take to the platform to address their peers.

  • Wall Magazine to stimulate creativity, Wall Magazine display competitions are conducted at the school on various topics of interest. The students and their house masters have put in a lot of hard work to make them more attractive and educative.
  • Hobby Clubs to mobilize and ignite the tatent and inherent qualities Special Activity Clubs [SAC] are there under which Eco Club, Science Club, Hobby Club, Cultural Club, Junior Artist Club, Chamber of Commerce and Foreign Language Clubs are working under supervision of different Incharges. A balance is created by interspersing outdoor action with indoor skills like yoga, meditation, painting, acting, quiz, music and dance.
  • National Celebration Independence Day and Republic Day are celebrated with all its seriousness to instill the spirit of patriotism in the young minds.
  • Organizing Skills - Hostel Nights once in a month, Celebration of all festivals, Weekly inter-house competitions, Exhibitions.
  • Workshops - Students attend workshops by visiting resource persons.

In addition to painting, sketching and regular craftwork, students are exposed to a variety of media including clay modeling and papermaking.

Events & Celebrations
SRSSIPS celebrates various festivals of our culture . Every care is taken to provide joyous and festive moods to various celebrations like Raksha Bandhan, Independence Day, Ganesh Chaturthi, Dashehra ,Deepawali , Onam, Krishna Janmashtami, Teacher’s Day, Children’s Day, Christmas, New Year ,Holi , Ram Navmi , Mahashivratri & Pongal.

Music
Over one hundred pupils learn musical instruments at the School. In addition to an important contribution to the School’s academic curriculum, the Music Department provides a varied programme of extra-curricular musical activities.

 

Yoga
We SRSSIPS, believe that education should lead the students to a practical, confident and successful living. In our boarding school, we are firmly believing in the fact that every child is potentially the light of the world, we endeavor to see the budding children as the Dream Kids and the pride achievers in the forthcoming days.

Art Center
One of the objectives of education is to inculcate in children, the appreciation of beauty and to help them develop a sense of aesthetics. A lot of emphasis is placed on the Fine as well as the Performing Arts. In junior school, compulsory exposure is given to art and craft, music and dance, dramatics etc. In Middle school, each student chooses one or two areas to develop and expertise in, and skilled guidance is provided on a regular basis.

Recreation
The recreation includes special tours of students to various knowledgeable places, where they learn how the practical work is actually performed. Along with this many trips to Historical places nearby area are arranged for the students. So they can get some Rest and Refreshment. Thus they can recreate their energy, their Enthusiasm and their Dedication towards their study.
